ABOUT THE PROJECT
This series of artworks was created as an experimental exploration of augmented reality as an artistic medium. I initially developed the project using Spark AR, Meta’s AR platform, where all the filters were made available through Instagram. At the time, I was interested in testing how digital layers could exist discreetly within physical artworks and be revealed only through interaction.
Each piece begins as a simple illustrated pattern, printed on fine art paper. At first glance, the work appears minimal and static, but hidden within it is a fully immersive augmented experience. When viewed through a mobile device, the illustration becomes a gateway to a richer digital world, transforming the artwork and inviting viewers to actively participate in its discovery.

CHALLENGES
The series was exhibited before the beginning of 2025, when Meta announced the closure of Spark AR, resulting in the disappearance of many filters created by independent artists. This decision was met with disappointment across the AR creator community, as entire bodies of work suddenly became inaccessible. Despite this, I was fortunate to be able to present and document the artworks before the platform was shut down, and the public response during the exhibition was marked by curiosity and amazement.
While the main limitation of the project was its dependence on Instagram, this experience pushed me to continue researching more accessible solutions. Today, I am exploring Lens Studio, a new tool that allows AR experiences to be viewed directly through a browser, significantly improving accessibility and independence from social media platforms. Although I am still experimenting with this technology, it shows great potential for future projects.

SUMMARY
Even though the Spark AR filters are now outdated, this series remains an important milestone in my artistic practice. It represents a moment of experimentation, technological fragility, and innovation, and I am proud to share the results of this work as part of my ongoing exploration of immersive art.
